Let’s look at the obvious pluses of this longboi versus my Paseo:
- ten+ years newer
- 5-10 more miles per gallon
- oodles of cargo and passenger space
- FWD, so I can actually drive it in winter
- normal ground clearance, so I don’t have to worry about humps on the ends of other people’s driveways
- EDIT: I've been corrected: this takes premium fuel too, great googly moogly...
- no one will try to race me
- uncommon which makes it appealing
- hard to get a speeding ticket
- FWD 4-banger Honda bodes well for reliability and cost of ownership
And here are the highly subjective minuses:
- FWD, when I prefer RWD
- handling... it’s a functional wagon
- 45 less ft-lbs of torque... Hondaaaaa!
- 12 inches longer and 4 inches wider... Tight fit in the garage
- a good one costs nearly double what my car is worth, thus it would take years for the fuel savings to break even with the cost of entry
- I could buy a real nice truck or SUV instead. Or a Z4 3.0si coupe.
Love the light interior with the dark dash and mats, though... Ah well. I gotta stay off Craigslist.

•it recommends premium, not regular. You’ll lose power and fuel economy, so it’s not even worth the price increase for the gas.
•I have not driven an IS300, but the TSX handles far better than the IS250/350 IMO

Whoa they’re still pricy. In spite of the wagony goodness, I think you could probably find equally competent wagony goodness in a less expensive package.
Also it takes premium.

What? The NA 2.4 recommends premium?!?
What a world, what a world...

Yessir, it only takes the finest of gasolines. Higher compression than other uses, hence higher power, but the trade off is higher octane

If it makes you feel any better my D2 (4.0L NA V8) takes premium too. RIP my wallet...

My napkin math says I'd have to drive a hell of a lot of miles to even start saving money.

It could have been good but Recession H onda was chickening out on taking risks. And pretty much cheapened everything.
And unless you plan on tuning it, the 2.4l isn’t worth it.
I would suggest a v6 cts wagon over these, and the Non-Vs are ugly.

I was looking at those too, now I’m looking at the discounts of the Buick TourX as well.

Oh shit, maybe not then, plus the Buick/Opel/.... has AWD.

For me, the swap from the GS300 to the TSX saved me over $2000, not to mention that maintenance costs and future repairs needed.
That’s over the course of 2 years

AWD is admittedly unnecessary because -- save for this 2019 outlier -- I don't get real winters beyond lots of black ice, and I live in some relatively flat 'burbs

See that worked because that was an older TSX and far less expensive than 2012-2014 wagon to boot. I haven't broken 100k yet on my 2JZ but I suspect I will be replacing more bits in pieces as the years march on...

With less than 100k that means you can sell your Paseo for $100k on BAT

It has crossed my mind that selling before I break 6-digits may be a financially sound decision.

On one hand, it’s worth the most it will be right now.
On the other hand, if you sell it you’ll pay a pretty penny for a similar one if you regret your choice.

Forte? I think I might know of one that you could get cheap, if you can live without A/C

Ugh, now that I have good AC, I will never choose to be without it short of a vintage pickup.

Well in NorCal we get some crazy rain with curvy roads and my AWD has felt like it was really helping, not for snow! I found a one owner TSX Wagon I might look at.

Premium fuel ???....pshhh....nah !!! Hogwash. I've got 2013 Sportwagon, 700 hwy miles per week running lowest grade fuel and it does 29-30 mpg regularly @ 80 mph. Runs great !!
